100 WIP, Photos, Playlists

I’m a model, baby!

What’s up y’all? Another day, another new experience for your boy over here…just got back from my first ever professional photo shoot. I know, right?! And I mean, hey, well, I’ve had professional portraits taken at school, but that’s practically mandatory. And I’ve stood up in weddings and had pics taken for that too, but those were never about me and to be honest, I don’t recall ever seeing most of the final shots. So yeah, this is a first for me.

So yeah, it felt pretty crazy! And my friends who know me know that I hate forcing myself to smile, because I wind up making the Chandler Bing face. But about halfway through the whole click-clickery I taught myself a little trick…every time the photographer asked/pleaded/desperately bargained for a smile, I’d think about how terrible my fake smile is, which in turn made me chuckle a little, and that produced a legit-looking expression of at least partial joy on my face. *points at forehead* Quick thinking y’all…this pretty-when-it-wants-to-be head isn’t just a hat rack.

And the pics will be ready in about three days. I know I should be excited and I am to an extent, but this is all coming together so fast that I don’t even know if this whole experience of everything going on has really hit me yet. It’s surreal…tell me a week or so ago that by this time next week I’ll be working on all the details that go into getting a book published, and you know I’dda told you to lay off the crack, homie. Yet, here we are, and I’m glad you’re here with me, following along.

With that said, let’s bang out to a kickass photo-based playlist and call it a day.

  • The Cure, “Pictures Of You”
  • Taking Back Sunday, “This Photograph Is Proof (I Know You Know)”
  • Spoon, “I Turn My Camera On”
  • The Tragically Hip, “Pigeon Camera”
  • Camper Van Beethoven, “Pictures Of Matchstick Men”
  • Ice Cube, “Who Got The Camera?”
  • Wilco, “Kamera”
  • Atmosphere, “Camera Thief”
  • Def Leppard, “Photograph”
  • The Who, “Pictures Of Lily”
  • Felt, “I Shot A Warhol”

Hope your day’s fantastic, loves. Let’s keep the wagon wheels rollin’ on through the rest of the week, ok? Peace!

    1. Of course, Elle! The good ones, that is! He took a ton of pics and he’s sending me everything. Some I’ll use for headshots and others I’ll use here and my website.

It was windy af that day, so I’m not sure what I’m gonna get, but the photog was super cool about locations and sun angles and stuff. Seemed to know what he was doing, and doing it well.

      Cannot fucking wait!!

  1. Norb! I am SO late to the party! I had no idea this was a thang. Congratulations, love, this is just so wonderful!

The cover looks very cool and very you! Like Elle, I can’t wait to see the photos.

So this is not self-publishing? You found a poetry publisher? I am just so pleased for you. You absolutely deserve it, and I can’t wait to buy your books!

I feel so lucky that I have a proper, real, handwritten Norb poem (which I won from Snail Mail Auction!).

Love ya, fella. Keep on flyin’!!! <3

    1. SALLY!! <3 You're not any later than myself or anyone else to this party! It's happened so fast! One day I'm verbally jerking off at the WDC Quills, and the next I'm getting a phone call after I submitted an inquiry from a mutual Twitter follow…looking for writers of all kinds, including those who specialize in Mental Health. I couldn't classify this as just MH, but there's a lot in there that deals with it; you know because you've read a lot of it.

So yeah, Eliezer Tristan is an actual publisher, and not self-pub. I still can't believe all this is real. It'll be available on multiple platforms, I've got a cover designer, and I'll be doing public events and signings. Crazy! But thank you for the sweet words, and your support throughout the years! It means so much to me, and I don't even know how to explain it because I have so many emotions going through my head now and I I'm struggling to figure out which one to process first!!

I still love that you have my Snail Mail donation poem…I'm glad it was you who won it. I forget which one it was but I'm sure it was from the 100 collection, if my memory's right. Sally, you know I got mad love for ya! Your friendship and encouragement played a big part in me continuing the project, and keeping the momentum going. You're a true sweetheart and one of my most favorite friends…I can't thank you enough! <3
